6/18 - 6/20 Lexington to Kansas City Missouri

It was a beautiful ride into Kansas City with a farms on the curvey, hilly, lightly trafficked roads. We got some city riding in as we decided to spend a rest day in Kansas City. I loved Kansas City, what a nice surprise. It's a spacious city with lots of cultural interests, museums, parks, fountains, trolleys, hills, views, eateries, barbeque. I could spend more time in Kansas City, Mo. We visited the Arabia Steamboat museum. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The Arabia sank in the Missouri River before the Civil War with 200 tons of provisions for people settling in the West. It was found in 1989 in a cornfield near Kansas City. Most everything was preserved in remarkable condition. The contents are a national treasure as the contents are a vast time capsule into life. There were large quantities of shoes, hats, tools, iron, china, thousands of items all on display. Also pieces of the ship Arabia. Outstanding.
We stayed at a Warm Showers member's house in North Kansas City. Mark was an excellent host. He took us to barbeque and a tour around the city. He rode with us as for a few miles as we were leaving this morning.
