Arrow Rock, MO to Lexington, Mo

We got out earlish today and rode 15 beautiful miles of rolling winding hills of farmland with farm houses stop the fields of corn. It was only in the low 80s, the traffic was sparse and, with for it, a tail wind. Now this is what biking is supposed to be about! We rolled into a a little town past some beautiful big old house of many styles, found our breakfast place and ate with the locals. My bill for a big bowl of oatmeal, coffee and a pancake was $5.Off we went. It was considerably hotter after breakfast but we still had a tailwind. We stopped at a farm shop, Steven and I and got a delicious peach. The young man, who typically works in the fields, Noah was helping at the store today, was delighted to meet us.
We stopped for a desert at a gluten free ship and then lunch about 35 miles in. Note to self, again. Don't eat so much, especially when it's so hot. After lunch we climbed a considerable hill and another, etc, plus it was, you guessed it over 100°, again. 57 miles today 2000' of climbing. Staying at the Lexi Inn. Yup, real quality.
When I started this trip the corn were seedlings. Tomorrow, Kansas City and a break!

  3. My son is Noah and he truly enjoyed meeting you!! He texted me when he had a free minute to tell me about it and send me your blog link. He stepdad (also a Steven) is the Managing Director at the Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock where you stayed. (The theatre you mentioned is actually a 416 seat professional theatre. While there are actors/actresses from closer, most are from the NYC area and many are active in Broadway shows. Occasionally music artist come for a show too!). — Be safe in your travels and if you are ever back through Missouri, be sure to check back in at Jenkins Market or see a show at The Lyceum!!
