4 days to cross Indiana and now we are in Illinois. We rode along the Wabash river to the crossing point and it was beautiful. We stopped for coffee along route 40 West. The picture is of me and Peggy. Steven and I rode along route 40 for the majority of the day, 38 miles. These would have been easy miles except for a strong headwind. I enjoyed the day. Steven and I stopped at Marshall, Il to look around. It's another nearly empty town still holding on to a certain dignity. There were a lot of murals on the sides of buildings all over town. After that we stopped for lunch a Martinsville, Il for lunch at the local eatery. I had an all pork hamburger. The highlight for me was when we got of of route 40, the National Highway and got to ride on a couple of mile section of the original concrete highway from the 1920s. Steven found the route. Casey, Il is cited in the Guinness Book of Records. Attached are pictures of the world's largest Mail Box, barber pole and rocking chair. I'm sure it's a help to the economy of the 2600 population.
