Colter Bay Campground to Yellowstone Grant 43 miles 2400 climbing

We left the stunning environs of Grand Teton National Park and stopped to look at a lake with the Titons as a backdrop  just 8 miles west of the park. We met a group of Motorcyclist who took our picture. Then came along a 20 something young woman who was cycling west to east on her own. Bravo. We decended as much as we climbed the previous day to we had to climb again and in the heat it started just after the lake. There were some steep sections and a big drip into a beautiful meadow and then we had to climb not only what we lost but more. Thank you wild flowers. At some point this vista opened up to a Yellowstone. What a whole new vista. Green, lots of low pine trees, mountains all around in the haze, wild flowers, Snake River from high up and low and high again. It was a 40 ish mile ride. We hung around Grand Teton National Park, stayed for breakfast in the beautiful dining room while waiting for our tents to dry.  It was a great feeling entering Yellowstone, a kind of accomplishment. We got another great dinner in the windowed dining room overlooking Yellowstone lake and the mountains. I slept well. Oh yeah, check out this orange bus. Twenty friends from Britain shipped this bus to Halifax, Nova Scotia. They drove to Alaska and are on their way to Tierra Del Fuego.
