Grant Camp Ground to Madison
Grant and Yellowstone Campgrounds were really nice. Part of the site are restaurants, mini Mary's, Laundry and showers. It all costs more but if you are a senior, as I am, in name only, it's $10 to camp. The ride sported a climb to 8600' a couple of continental divide locations and some good steepish grades in the 7% area. At the top was a beautiful Lilly Pond. I could have sat at this amazing spot for hours. I get kind on spoiled being amo st this beauty. On top we met 3 cyclist and really cool guys from Brooklyn. You can see by the picture. It is with great energy and quick friendship when you meet other touring cyclists. After the peak at about the 10 mile mark they said goodbye and rode down hill. As luck would have it we rode down hill shortly after talking to more people and we sat on stools right next to the 3 cool guys at the Old Faithful Park. Somehow we missed seeing Old Faithful erupt but I got to see it and other Geysers in smaller eruptions. Down the road a piece we saw rich and colorful hot springs. The steam room type heat was almost oppressive to me against the cooler air. We stayed at Madison Campground where I had a sandwich the I bought at Old Faithful N. P for dinner and had a good night's sleep

Jody, We're all cheering for you here at SSMR. You must have legs of steel by now. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Jodi! And no, I would not consider you a Senior.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I got my hair cut, they gave me the senior discount at Supercuts, because of my grey hair. I was somewhat insulted, but I saved 3 bucks.
See everyone soon!
