Greeley to Ft Collins 7/6 40 miles

Joyce didn't feel well when we woke up on Wednesday so our plans were dashed as far as the four of us setting off to FT Collins. Pat gave Steven and I a ride to the Pudre River bike trail a 35 mile absolutely magnificent trail. A lot of thought went into this immaculate quiet trail. This trail wound through Prairie and farms, the river, ponds and lakes created from old gravel mines. We saw a Blue Heron, Pelican other birds up close. Early on we noticed two rail road engines parked right on our crossing point. We had to carry our bikes over the tracks. The trail wound through neighborhoods, and planed communities with nice houses and street, places for kids to play, golf courses an  archery pit and many signs describing what we were seeing. This was the nicest trail that I've ever biked on. A great beginners trail. We wandered off the trail at the 25 Mike mark and headed I to town. Fort Collins is a bustling beautiful college town. We stayed with Todd and Jen, our warm showers hosts, they provided us friendly conversation, a shower and a comfortable place to sleep. They live in the old section of town with well kept 100 year old homes covered by many leafy trees on broad steets. Steven and I walked to the old town to check out the restaurants. We sat outside at an excellent Vegan restaurant and watched people pass by and bikes roll through the streets.
