The 15 miles brought us to Montana and West Yellowstone. We made a decision based upon safety and getting a hotel room here rather than camp in the wind. The last time we can.ped in the wind my tent started to blow away and the delicate screen got ripped in 3 places. My friend Joyce taught me how to repair it when we were staying at her house in Goldin, CO.

Madison Campground, WY ot W. Yellowstone, Montana
15 miles today. Why only 15 miles? The wind was fierce and erratic. 23-40mph with gusts up to 60mph. We left camp later than expected today. Before we knew of anything there were gunshots. Then a park ranger was driving through the campground with a message that was as inaudible as they used to be on the T. Another Ranger told us that it was a bear warning and advised us not to leave for 30 minutes. I didn't come here to see no bear, so I waited.
